The National Audubon Society started Project Puffin in 1973 to restore puffins to historic nesting islands in the Gulf of Maine.
Project Puffin has successfully restored three Maine puffin colonies that are now home to more than 1,000 puffin pairs. Each summer, student interns and volunteers help to protect more than 42,000 waterbirds of 27 species on Maine islands. The purchases that you make in our online store help to support seasonal field camps on these important bird nesting islands.
Visit us at Project Puffin Visitor Center in Rockland, Maine (311 Main St) and consider taking a puffin watching tour to Eastern Egg Rock.
